Playing the Field

The gang is back and this time there is a wedding to celebrate, except that is the last thing on Molly Meyers’ mind. After losing her fiancé, Luke, two years ago, the last thing on her mind is helping her best friend, Jane Bradley, plan her wedding and celebrate the annoyingly, obnoxious, lovey-dovey relationship Jane has with Braves first baseman, Brady Matthews. Austin Lee, rookie outfielder for the Braves finds himself in the middle of a blonde tornado known as Molly. When her fiancé died, he gave her space and time to heal but always admired her from a far. Never in a million years did he think he would be bedding his dream girl and planning a future with her starring as his leading lady. Patty O’Neil, abuse victim and Jane’s friend, finds herself struggling to let any man back in her life. Marc Sullivan, Braves catcher and Brady’s best friend, wants to be that man in Patty’s life but is finding it awfully difficult to crack the wall Patty built around herself. Patty wants Marc as a friend but Marc wants more. Lucy Reynolds, Austin’s best friend and Molly’s worst enemy never thought she would find the love of her life while sitting in a café, eating Greek food and reading her Kindle but she did. Connor Cartwright luckily came into her life and she couldn't be happier. The only problem is…he is Luke’s brother, something Molly can’t seem to accept. Playing the Field goes through the lives of the Hot-Lanta gang as they tangle a drama filled web together, screwing each other, lying to one another, and sabotaging each other’s lives. Follow their story as once again the drama unfolds, feelings are hurt, slaps are thrown and Hot-Mess Molly tries to make everyone just as unhappy and miserable as she is.

I think that I have to put Author Meghan Quinn down as one of my favorite authors, her concept of storytelling is remarkable. Her stories are not just about one guy and one girl. Yes, there can tend to be more focus on particular couple but for the most part every single character of her ensemble cast has an equally important and riveting story going on at the same time. I am invested in each and every one of them. Reading a story written this way might not work for some, but it works for me!

Book one, Caught Looking, ended in a way that left me happy at one part and devastated and ripped to shreds at the very end. It took my breath away and I was really pissed off. I FREAKING love this series. It is like crack for me. I really can’t get enough of it.

The story continues with this crazy cast of characters and some time has gone by and I’m like “wow” things have changed and not all for the better. Oh Molly, Miss Molly, I want to hug her tight and kick her in the face at the same time and then smack her around some more. Molly is like a walking sex machine and Austin gets to keep putting his quarters in.

Marc and Patty, I just love Marc, his love has no bounds and he fights until the bitter end and Patty is prize. Their story had me begging for more and to get some gratification but the author Meghan Quinn holds it just out of reach and had me shaking my damn iPad!!!

Lucy and Conner, was the last two people I actually expected to get together, but I like it. Their story and their scenes were very sexy. They have a major wrench thrown into their relationship!

Jane and Brady, they are the two that the series revolves around they are like the matriarch of the series, Caught Looking’s focus was them and their story continues here too.  All of these characters connect and weave through each other’s lives, and they all connect in some good or bad way. When I was reading this I felt like I was reading Melrose Place on steroids only story involves men from a baseball team instead of apartment building. If you’re not old enough to remember that show then I apologize. There is so much happening in this story but I promise you will never be confused, it flows seamlessly and every detail is there that you need.

The ending once again left me shell-shocked even though I had a teeny tiny feeling that what happened would happen.  I am confused as to how I feel about it, but it is going to make for some awesome reading when the next book comes out!!!I love, love, love this series!

I really would love to see this series become a TV show. Meghan has an amazing talent and how she keeps it all together I have no idea. Please hurry Meghan with book three my heart can’t take the wait!!!

Be sure to check out all of Meghan Quinn’s other books, I have also read her first two books the Love and Sports series and the first book of her Addiction series and both of those are also amazing.

Author Bio:

When I was in high school I occasionally read books but was consumed by other teenage things so I didn't take the time to appreciate a good book on a cloudy day, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch, besides The Notebook I made time to read the heartbreaking novel. It wasn't until I received a Kindle for Christmas one year that my world completely flipped upside down. When looking for books I came across the Contemporary Romance genre and was sold and I haven't turned back since. You can either find my head buried in my Kindle, listening to inspiring heart ripping music or typing away on the computer twisting and turning the lives of my characters while driving my readers crazy with anticipation. I am currently residing in beautiful Colorado Springs where the sun is always shining and there is a trail waiting to be hiked on every corner. I share a lovely and warm home with the love of my life and my five, four-legged children.
